THE BARDROOM

The Bardroom 2006. január, Nyitott Műhely

Dear friend of the Bardroom!

Summer is running out, but not quickly enough to escape the next Bardroom evening on the 17th of August, from 7:30 PM. The venue is Nyitott Műhely (XII, Ráth György utca 4, near Déli metro station).

Our invited readers will be Darin Kranick, Jeff Frawley and Benjamin Norris.

Darin Kranick has been living in Hungary on and off since 1994. His poems and kinetically poetic prose pieces sing out from the wonder and despair that keep us in our urban day, our compromised loves and absurd family dramas, with a generous insistence on small, perceptive details that somehow makes it all okay.

Jeff Frawley has an MFA in fiction at New Mexico State University, where he also taught writing for a few years, and is currently here in Budapest on a Fulbright grant, working on a novel based in part on the Siege of Budapest during WWII.

UK poet Benjamin Norris is a lecturer of Indian Cultural History at a Budapest University. His poetry injects mythic themes into the mundane and extraordinary settings which surround him, and has been greatly influenced by living in central Europe for the past few years.

As always, there are open microphone slots for the daring, and there will be quiz questions and fabulous prizes. And if that all were not enough, it will also be the last time to catch our star host, Jeff Taylor, in his final Budapest appearance!

So we hope to see you there!
